Adolph W. Swain, 86, of Hancock, Md., passed away Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Doey’s House, in Hagerstown, Md.
Born August 20, 1933, he was the son of the late George and Nancy (Booth) Swain; and the widower of Ruby Isabelle (Hull) Swain, who passed away August 22, 2019 .
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He retired from the Maryland State Department of Transportation with more than 30 years of service.
He is survived by one son, Bruce J. Swain; one step-son, David Q. Helman, both of Hancock; one daughter, Shelly K. Swain, of Martinsburg, W.Va.; two brothers, Gary Swain and his wife, Bernice, of Clear Spring, Md., and Stevie Swain and his wife, Sharon, of Pecktonville, Md.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Timothy J. Swain; a son-in law, George Dawson; and a step-son, Barry Hull.
Graveside services will be held in the Stone Bridge Church of the Brethren Cemetery, 14904 Orchard Ridge Road, Hancock, Md., on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Harry E. Strite will officiate.
Arrangements were handled by the Grove Funeral Home, in Hancock.
