Alys Kerns

Alys Wright Kerns (70) of Hagerstown , passed away at the Kline Hospice House of Frederick County on Tuesday, April 13, 2010. Mrs. Kerns died from metastatic breast cancer.

She is survived by her husband Ronald A. Kerns, of Hagerstown , daughter Kathleen Kerns Williams, of Frederick, daughter Judith Kerns Nichols (Steven) of Watertown , Massachusetts , and her grandson Stuart Augustus Williams of Frederick .

In recent years, Alys volunteered for the Hospice of the Panhandle ( Berkley County ) and was a member of the Democratic Women’s Club of Morgan County (WV). Alys enjoyed volunteering for the Breast Cancer Awareness (BCA) organization in Hagerstown and for the J. N.

“Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island in Florida .

A memorial service will be held at the Hancock United Methodist Church on May 15th, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to BCA, 324 East Antietam Street , Hagerstown , Maryland 21740 , or to J. N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge, 1 Wildlife Drive , Sanibel , Florida 33957 .
