Arnold Lee “Ben” Younker, age 90, of Hancock, Md., passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at the Meritus Medical Center, in Hagerstown, Md., with his wife and son by his side.
Born Friday, July 22, 1927, in Hancock, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Roaslie (Sensel) Younker.
He attended Hancock High School, and was a former member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, in Hancock.
Arnold was in the U.S. Army from September, 1945 until he was discharged in February, 1947. He held the rank of PFC, and was stationed in Germany and Austria.
He was later employed by the Western Maryland/Chessie CSX Railroad for forty-five years, retiring in 1985.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Fay Audrey (Younker) Younker; a son, Kevin Arnold Younker, of Hancock; a sister, Yetta Jane Souders, of Florida; a special brother-in-law, Bruce Onal Younker, of Hagerstown, Md.; and many nieces and nephews, especially Dave and Scott Creek.
Per Arnold’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. A memorial service may be held at a later date.
He was very thankful for the faithful visits of his friend and neighbor, Ronnie Corbett, and the family wants to thank three members of the Rescue Squad; Steve Barnhart, Kathy Hoopengardner and Josh Unger, for their faithful services.
