Audrey J. Roman, age 71, of Warfordsburg, died on Monday, October 10, 2016, at her home.

Born Friday, October 13, 1944, in Amaranth Pa., she was the daughter of the late John and Emma (Barney) Hixon, and the wife of Steven E. Roman, whom she married April 30, 1984.

She graduated from the Southern Fulton High School with the class of 1962.

She retired from Rayloc, in Hancock, Md., in 2008, and was employed by Pittman’s IGA, in Hancock for 16 years.

She attended the Buck Valley Christian Church, in Warfordsburg.

She was a devoted mother and loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved cooking and baking and making big dinners for her family. She was well known for making pies, cakes and bread, and taking them to work to share with her many friends. She loved working outside in her garden, and going to the barn to tend to her chickens and goats.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Lisa Chesnut and husband, Jeff, of Warfordsburg; one son, Joseph Breakall, of Warfordsburg; one grandson, Joshua Chesnut and his fiancé, Tiffany Fields, of Warfordsburg; one great-grandson, Connor Chesnut, of Warfordsburg; two sisters, Arlene Ritz, of Hagerstown, Md., and Shirley Frush, of Greencastle, Pa.; five sisters-in-law, Hilda Buskirk and companion, Paul Bowers, Linda Bishop and husband, Donnie, Debbie Reed and husband, Brian, Barb Bivens, and Margorie Roman, all of Hancock, Md.; one brother-in-law, Larry Roman, of Hancock; two very special children that she enjoyed tremendously, Trevor and Faith Gearhart; numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and her faithful companions, Willy and Punky.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jenny Breakall; a sister, Waneta Bechtell; a sister-in-law, Mildred Eddy; and four brothers-in-law, Lloyd Roman, Eddie Bivens, Earl Bechtel, and George Frush.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 13, 2016, from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Buck Valley Christian Church, 2281 Harmonia Road, in Warfordsburg, at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, October 14, 2016. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
