Betty Jean Whiteside

Betty Jean (Everitt) Whiteside, 82, of Warfordsburg, PA., passed away on April 17, 2022, at the War Memorial Hospital, in Berkeley Springs, WV.

Born July 14, 1939, in Berkeley Springs, WV., she was the daughter of the late Wilbur Benjamin Everitt and Maxine Lillie Hoopengardner Everitt.

She was a graduate of Hancock High School, Class of 1957.  After graduation she moved to Baltimore, MD., where she found work as a secretary, taking the bus home every weekend to be with her family. She worked briefly at the Hancock Bank, in Hancock, MD., before staying home to raise her family.

She was a Charter member and Past Treasurer of the Hancock Lioness Club and a former member of the Whips Cove Pals.

Betty was a Christian and had accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.  She attended Whips Cove Church, in Warfordsburg, PA., for over 60 years.

She enjoyed traveling and has been to many places including Hawaii, Alaska, England, France, Spain, Italy and Monaco. She had taken several cruises and traveled out west.

She took pride in keeping her home immaculate and was always fashionably dressed.  She was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was the heart and soul of her family and will be terribly missed.

On December 5, 1959, she married the love of her life, Donald M. Whiteside. He survives along with their children, Scott (Ginger) Whiteside, Holly Whiteside, Kevin (Lisa) Whiteside and Marc (Kristi) Whiteside, all of Warfordsburg, PA.; four grandchildren, Shanna Golden, Lindsay Turner, Jessie Caudill and Brooke Watson; eight great-grandchildren, Mack Watson, Sophia Turner, Henley Golden, Madelynne Golden, Charley Watson, Ezra Caudill, Leah Caudill and Sawyer Mann; three sisters, Shirley Heiner and Milly (Lester) Potter, both of Hedgesville, WV., and Judy (Eugene) Lutman, of Fredericksburg, VA.; a sister-in-law, Patricia Everitt, of Berkeley Springs, WV.; a brother-in-law, William Whiteside, of Warfordsburg, PA.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Everitt; two infant brothers, both named Richard; two sisters-in-law, Anna M. Polson and Betty Louise Whiteside; and two brothers-in-law, Robert Polson and Dale Heiner.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at Whips Cove Church, 5044 Moss Road, Warfordsburg, PA.  Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.  There will be no visitation prior to the service.
