Bettylou Sipes

BettyLou Virginia Sipes, 87, of Fairplay, MD., passed away January 10, 2022, at her home, surrounded by loved ones.

Born February 12, 1934, in Great Cacapon, WV., she was the daughter of the late Fonzie Newton Unger and Eleanor Virginia McManus Unger.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to cook and when you went to visit, you never went away hungry.

She loved to yard sale. She never missed a sign showing where the next yard sale was!

She absolutely loved her family. Nothing was more important to her than loving and hugging her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was an avid gardener.

She was of the Christian faith and loved listening and dancing to the music.

She retired from London Fog Manufacturing plant where she made many friends with her loving attitude and friendly smile.

She is survived by four children, Betty Beard of Hancock, MD., Calvin Sipes, and wife, Michelle, of Martinsburg, WV., Jackie Hottle, and husband, Dave, of Fairplay, MD., and Randy Sipes, and fiancé, Pam, of Hedgesville, WV.; twelve grandchildren; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Jeannie Walls, and husband, Freddie, of Hancock, MD., Tina Starliper, and husband, Greg, of Hancock, MD., and Darlene Shives, of Berkeley Springs, WV.; two brothers, Leroy Unger, and wife, Donna, of Hagerstown, MD., and Don Unger, of Hancock, MD.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene “Bump” Unger and Gary Unger; and two sons, Jesse Alan Sipes and Donald Lee Sipes.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 14, 2022, 10:00 am-12:00 pm, at Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main St, Hancock, MD. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm at the funeral home.  Pastor Jeff Hawbaker will officiate.  Burial will follow the funeral service at Great Cacapon Cemetery, Great Cacapon, WV.
