C. Eugene Pittman, age 89, of Waltz Road, Big Cove Tannery, Pa., died Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Golden Living Center, Hagerstown, Md.
Born June 3, 1922, in Big Cove Tannery, Pa., he was the son of the late Mac J. Pittman, Sr. and Amber T. Younker Pittman, and widower of Florence A. Dase Pittman, who died May 24, 2005.
He attended Laurel Ridge Christian Church, Big Cove Tannery, Pa.
He was a retired truck driver, employed by Southern States in Hancock, Md.
He is survived by three step-daughters, Diane Younker, of Mercersburg, Pa., Carol Sloan, of Hancock, Md., and Patricia Borman, of Hagerstown, Md.; four step-sons, Russell , James, and Mike Hoffman, all of Big Cove Tannery, and Thomas Hoffman, of Wasilla, Alaska; one brother, Mac Pittman, Jr., of Hancock, Md.; two sisters, Olive V. Rogers, of York, Pa., and Naomi J. Reinhart, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va. Also surviving are grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Alvira Pittman.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 10, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., at the Damascus Christian Church, Big Cove Tannery, Pa. The Rev. David Hamilton will officiate. Burial will follow in the adjoining Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, Md. For the convenience of family and friends, the Funeral Home will be open from 3 to 7 p.m.
