Charles R. Divelbliss, age 79 years 10 months and 19 days, of 504 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, died Monday March 15, 2010 at the Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown, MD.
Born Thursday, April 24, 1930 in Fulton County, PA., he was the son of the late Joseph and Carrie Alice Diehl Divelbliss.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army.
He was retired from Rayloc in Hancock, MD.
He was a member of the Grace Church of the Nazarene, Hancock, MD.
He was a member of the Webster B. Harrison Post 26 American Legion, Hancock, MD. and a charter member of the Hancock Rescue Squad.
He is survived by his wife, Olive M. Diehl Divelbliss, whom he married June 27, 1958 at Grace Church of the Nazarene; one sister, Mary Smith of Bedford, PA.; two brothers, Herbert Divelbliss of Crystal Spring, PA., Joseph Divelbliss, Jr. of Hagerstown, MD.; a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five sisters; Hazel McCusker, Ethel Dively, Edna Hull, Ruth Stotler and Shirley Divelbliss; five brothers, Curtis Divelbliss, Thurman Divelbliss, James Divelbliss, Homer Divelbliss and Harold Divelbliss.
A service was held Thursday March 18, at 11:00 a.m. at the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, MD. Rev. Willis Swope officiated. Burial, with a military service, was conducted by the Tri-State Honor Guard in Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Cemetery near Hancock, MD.
The family received friends at the funeral home, Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. The funeral home was open 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
