Charlotte Lillian Bartles, age 79, of Hancock, died on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at her home.
Born September 21, 1934, in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late Chester W. and Gladys L. Scroggins Brannon.
She attended Hancock High School.
She was formerly employed with the Town of Hancock as a Water Plant operator.
She attended the Hancock United Methodist Church, and the Orchard Ridge First Church of God.
She enjoyed painting, arts, crafts, and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Richard L. Bartles, whom she married in 1953, in Clear Spring, Md.; one brother, Robert W. Brannon, of Hagerstown; grandchildren, Jayme Bartles, Jennifer McSparron, Jodie McSparron, and their mother, Teresa Joy McSparron, all of Hancock; a niece, Kelli McNamee and husband, John; a nephew, Bradley Brannon; and a great-niece, Jordan McNamee, all of Hagerstown.
Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Jay Richard Bartles; an infant son, Richard C. Bartles; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Brannon; and her daughter, Kristie Brannon.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock. Rev. Jeff Hawbaker will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Saturday, from 10 to 11 a.m.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21742, or to the Humane Society of Washington County, 13011 Maugansville Road, Hagerstown, Md. 21740.
