Chester Joseph Fabijanski, age 79, of Big Pool, Md., passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma, in Baltimore, Md.
Born September 2, 1938, in Poland, he was the son of the late Stefan Fabijanski and Laura Rucinska; and the husband of Rose M. (Devlin) Fabijanski. He emigrated to the United States in 1949.
Besides his wife, he is also survived by one daughter, Lisa A. Collazzo and husband, Jack, of Media, Pa.; one son, Steven W. Fabijanski and wife, Maripaz, of York, Pa.; three grandchildren, Jenna, Rowan and Tadeo; one sister, Susan Hagerty, of Baltimore, Md.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was employed by PBS Broadcasting as a broadcast engineer, retiring after 30 years of service.
After high school, Chester served in the United States Air Force from 1955 until 1959. He received an associate’s degree in engineering from the Johns Hopkins University.
Chester was a proud member of the Parkinson’s Support Group, in Hagerstown, Md.; the Webster B. Harrison Post 26 American Legion, in Hancock, Md.; and the AMVETS, in Hagerstown, Md.
Chester was a loving husband, father and friend. He was an avid storyteller, with a vibrant personality which will be sadly missed.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 31, 2018 from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8:00 p.m., at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Peter Catholic Church, 16 East High Street, Hancock, Md. Fr. John Lombardi will be the celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Peter Catholic Cemetery, at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation, or to St. Peter Catholic Church, at the above address.
