Debra Ann (Hess) Ray, age 67, of Hancock, Md. died on Sunday, November 20, 2016, at Meritus Medical Center, in Hagerstown, Md.
Born Sunday, July 3, 1949, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William Howard ”Bubber” and Maude Virginia (Brannon) Hess; and the widow of Glenn Ambrose Ray, Sr., whom she married on February 28, 1975, in Hancock, and who died November 27, 2007.
She graduated from Hancock High School in 1968.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Orchard Ridge First Church of God, in Hancock.
She is survived by four sons, Gary Hess, Glenn A. Ray, Jr., Tony A. Ray and Curtis Ray, all of Hancock; two daughters, Amanda Ray, of Hancock, and Kimberly Ray, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; four brothers, Bruce Hess, of Norfolk, Va., Joe and Sam Hess, both of Hancock, and Mike Hess, of Westminster, Md.; two sisters, Emiline Golden, of Clearville, Pa. and Maggie Kump, of Winchester, Va.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two sons, Rickie Ray and Ronnie Victor Ray; and six brothers, William, Dick, Frank, Kenny, Dave and Bob Hess.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at 1:00 p.m., at the Orchard Ridge First Church of God, 14128 Orchard Ridge Road, Hancock. Rev. Jeff Hawbaker will officiate. Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service at 1:00 p.m.
