Delmer Lee Yonker, Jr., age 79, of Little Orleans, died Sunday, December 15, 2013, at Western Maryland Hospital Center, in Cumberland, Md.
Born May 27, 1934, at home on Pearre Road, in Hancock, Md., he was the son of the late Delmer Lee Yonker, Sr. and Bessie Garland Yonker.
He was a 1952 graduate of Flintstone High School.
He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army.
He retired in 1994 as a diesel mechanic, from Greyhound Bus Lines, in Breezewood, Pa.
Delmer helped establish the Orleans Volunteer Fire Department, and served as the first Fire Chief for five years.
He is survived by his wife, T. Arleen McCusker Yonker; one brother, Allan Yonker, of Mountian View, Ar.; two nieces, Deana McCusker, and Tina Whiteside; and four great-nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 19, at St. Peter Catholic Church, Hancock, Md. Rev. John Lombardi will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md., on Wednesday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
The family requests that memorial contributions, in his name, may be made to the Orleans Volunteer Fire Company, 12210 Orleans Road N.E., Little Orleans, Md. 21766
