Dolores Dorrier Rollins, 94, of Hancock, MD, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Fahrney-Keedy Home in Boonsboro, MD.

Dolores was born May 31, 1930, in Hancock, MD to Herman C. and Evelyn M. (Bishop) Dorrier.

Dolores graduated from Hancock High School in 1948. She then went on to graduate from Beauty Culture School in Washington, D.C. While in Washington, Dolores met the love of her life, Wilmore Louis (Louie) Rollins, on a blind date and married him on June 24,1951 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Washington, D.C. Shortly after getting married, Louie joined the U.S. Navy in 1951 and was stationed in Norfolk, VA. They then moved to Wilmington, DE and Louie traveled to Radio Technician School in Bainbridge, MD for six months. After that, they moved to Boston, MA where he was stationed on an icebreaker. After Louie was discharged from the Navy in 1955, they moved to Hancock, MD where they resided for the rest of their lives.

Dolores worked at The Senatorial Office Building Beauty Shop in Washington, D.C. working with senators and their wives. Shew as also a homemaker for most of her life.

Dolores loved to dance, helped with Christmas for Others, and sang in the church choirs. She also loved to volunteer in various activities and go boating and water skiing on the Potomac River.

Dolores was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hancock, MD and later attended Hancock United Methodist Church in Hancock.

She is survived by a daughter, Karen Sherwood of Traverse City, MI; a son Larry (Vicky) Rollins of Hancock; six grandchildren, Shawna Hendershot, Christy (Mike) Cosenza, Julie Hendershot, Heather Sherwood, Adam Rollins and Tim (Alisha) Rollins; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of seventy years, Wilmore Louise Rollins and her sister, Ruth Jeffcoat of Jackson, Mississippi.

Cremation has taken place, and arrangements were made by Grove-Rogowski Funeral Home. No memorial service will be held.
