Doris Buddecke Hammann, age 94, previously of Silver Spring, MD., and more recently of Hancock, died Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at the Autumn Assisted Living, Hagerstown, MD.

Born September 3, 1915, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Lillian Pitt Buddecke and widow of Charles "Francis" Hammann, who died January 29, 1995.

She was a 1931 graduate of Silver Spring High School and a 1933 graduate of Strayer Business College.

She was a member of the Hancock United Methodist Church, and the Hancock Lioness Club. She and her husband were instrumental in founding the Lions Club Food Bank in Hancock. She was a volunteer for the Lions Club Blood Mobile and was active in Canal Apple Days.

She is survived by two sons; Paul F. Hammann of Hancock and Arnold E. Hammann and wife Lynne of Hagerstown. Also surviving are granddaughters; Amanda Hammann McDonald and husband Ryan of Myersville, MD. and Lauren K. Hammann of Middle River, MD.; also one great-grandson, Aiden E. McDonald, and several nieces and one nephew.  She was preceded in death by one sister Margaret Buddecke Elgin.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock. MD. The Rev. Duane Jensen will officiate. Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Garden, Hagerstown, MD.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
