Dorothy Kathleen Douglas, age 97, of Hancock, passed from this life to be with the Lord, on Thursday, December 5, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born August 2, 1916, in Plum Run, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Alva Bennett and Vallie Mae Mouse Gordon, and the widow of Harold Watson Douglas, who died November 18, 1976.

She was a 1935 graduate of Hancock High School, and a homemaker.

She was a member of Damascus Christian Church, in Big Cove Tannery, Pa., and was a former teacher at Release Time, at the Needmore Bible Church.

She is survived by one son, Harold Stephen Douglas and wife, Nancy, of Hancock; one daughter, Judith Ann Grove and husband, Richard, of Hancock; three grandchildren, Laura Grove Addy and husband, Richard, of Mechanicsville, Va., Richard J. Grove, II and wife, Carol Jean, of Needmore, Pa., and Amy Douglas McCarty, of Hancock; five great-grandchildren, Douglas Hunter Addy, Alyson Elizabeth Addy, Emma Kathleen Grove, Cooper Jay Grove, and Hayden Patrick McCarty.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Ann Gordon; and two brothers, Paul Dixon Gordon, and Joel Pierce Gordon.

A service will be held on Tuesday, December 10, at 11:00 a.m., at Damascus Christian Church, Big Cove Tannery, Pa. Rev. Loy Garber and  will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md., on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and at the Church on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m.
