Dorothy Fay Reed, age 78, of Hancock, died Monday, September 23, 2013, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Born April 20, 1935, in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late Robert T. Wolford and Dorothy Yost Wolford McCullough, and the widow of Orville Ernest Reed, whom she married November 21, 1953, in Hancock. and who died December 16, 1974. She also had a special companion, Thomas F. Donegan, who died in 2002.
She was a 1953 graduate of Hancock High School.
She was retired from Sam’s Club in Hagerstown, Md., as department manager, and was manager for the former Hancock Pharmacy.
She was a member of the Hancock United Methodist Church, where she served on various committees.
She was a member of the Hancock Lioness Club; the Modern Woodman of America; and the Hancock Fire Company Auxiliary.
She spent her years of retirement traveling with her family and friends.
She is survived by one daughter, Teresa Barnes and husband, Jack, of Gerrardstown, W.Va.; one son, Brian K. Reed and wife, Deborah, of Hancock; one sister, Irma Wolford, of San Antonio, Tx.; two brothers, Joseph Theodore Wolford, of Ocala, Fl., and Michael C. Wolford, of Hancock; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Ann Bishop; and one brother, Robert Grant Wolford.
A service will be held on Monday, September 30, at 11:00 a.m., at the Hancock United Methodist Church. Rev. Michael Bynum and Rev. Duane Jensen will officiate. Burial will be in the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, in Hagerstown, Md.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock.
The family requests that memorial contributions, in her name, may be made to the Hancock United Methodist Church, 168 West Main Street, Hancock, Md. 21750.
