Douglas Schweyer

Douglas Gerald Schweyer, age 79, of New Carrollton, Md., passed away on October 25, 2018, at his residence.

Born August 1, 1939, in Ashland, Ohio, he was preceded in death by both of his parents, Lillian Kaiser Dausch and Harmon Michael Schweyer; and his only sister, Gloria Graves.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

In his lifetime, he was a licensed realtor; he owned, bred and raced horses; and he worked many years for and retired from Priority One Services.

He loved spending time with his family and friends eating, goofing off, traveling, cruising, and casinos.

He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly (Mann) Schweyer; a daughter, Cheryl McBee and her late husband, Jim; a son, Douglas Michael Schweyer and his wife, Brenda; two step-daughters, Victoria Kolb Wray, and Beverly Joan Rego and her husband, John; one step-son, the late Steven Douglas Kolb; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md., on October 31, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., followed at 1:00 p.m. by a memorial service. A family friend, Preston Leyshon will officiate. Following the service, burial will be at the Piney Plains United Methodist Cemetery, 12708 Faith Circle NE, Little Orleans, Md.
