Dr. Frank B Thomas, III, age 79, of Hancock, died Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at City Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born April 30, 1931, in Meyersdale , Pa. , he was the son of the late Frank B. Thomas, Jr. and Irene Bolden Thomas.

He was a 1949 graduate of Meyersdale High School; a 1953 graduate of Mount St. Mary's College, Emmitsburg, Md.; and a 1957 graduate of Jefferson Medical School . He retired in 2006 from his Family Practice, of 46 years, in Hancock , Md.

He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Hancock, Md.

He is survived by his wife, Marion R. Thomas, whom he married August 31, 1957, in Meyersdale, Pa; children, Marion F. Lane, and husband, Dr. Christopher Lane, Waynesville, N.C., Frank B. Thomas, IV, of Hancock, Md., Michael Thomas, and wife, Angie, of Little Orleans, Md., Dr. Ralph Thomas, and wife, Tania, of Williamsport, Pa., Theresa Pittman of Warfordsburg, Pa., Rosemarie Reynolds, and husband, Gary, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Charles Thomas, and wife, Elizabeth, of Annapolis, Md., Paul Thomas, and wife, Kathy, of Big Pool, Md., and Elizabeth Woltemath, and husband, Brian, of Virginia Beach, Va.; brothers, Dr. Terrance Thomas of Williamsburg, Va., Adrian Thomas, John Thomas, and Dr. Nathan Thomas, all of Meyersdale, Pa.; grandchildren, Coleen, Kathryn, and Mary Claire Lane, Zita and Meladie Thomas, Rebecca Shoemaker, Patrick, Anna, Jeremiah and Shawn Thomas, Chelsea Koontz, Elena Thomas, Johanna and Jacob Pittman, Jessica Francis, Max Reynolds, Anastasia Andrews, Angela Thomas, Nathan Koontz, Cole, Alexa, Noah and Ian Thomas, Alex, Kayla and Nicholas Woltemath; great-grandchildren, Owen, and Charlotte Gadoury, Matthew Thomas, Dylan and Emberlyn Koontz, Kaitlyn and Layla Twigg, Nathan and Jacoby Francis, Elijah and Zoey Snow, Jaidallyn and Natalie Andrews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, January 31, at 11:00 a.m. Rev. John Lombardi will be the celebrant. Burial will be in the Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday, starting from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m., in the Parish Hall. Sunday, the Rosary will be prayed, at 12:00 noon, in the Church. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall, 16 East High Street , Hancock , Md.
