Earl Divelbliss

Earl E. "Jack" Divelbliss, age 87, of Hancock, Md., died Monday, April 11, 2011, at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, Md.

Born June 8, 1923, in Big Cove Tannery, Pa., he was the son of the late Oliver and Ivey Deshong Divelbliss, and the husband of Leona Marie Johnson Divelbliss, who died November 9, 1992.

He retired in 1995 from the Washington County Board of Education.

He was a veteran of WW II, serving in the U.S. Army.

He was a life member of Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church, Hancock, Md.

He is survived by three daughters, Carol V. Martin and Kay L. Sinclair, both of Hancock, Md., Linda M. Landers, of Mercersburg, Pa.; two sons, Earl D. Divelbliss, of Martinez, Ga., and Stanley R. Divelbliss, of Fawn Grove, Pa.; one sister, Betty Lanehart, of McConnellsburg, Pa.; eleven grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren. Besides his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by his twin brother, Merrill Divelbliss; four brothers, Lloyd T. Divelbliss, Roy Divelbliss, Floyd Divelbliss, and Leo Divelbliss; and two sisters, Marie Myers and Mildred Keefer.

A service will be held Friday, April 15, at 11:00 a.m., at the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, Md. Rev. Philip Unger will officiate. Burial, with military honors by the Tri-State Honor Guard, will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, Md.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, Thursday 5 to 8 p.m. For the convenience of family and friends, the Funeral Home will be open 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday.
