Edgar Lee Swisher, age 76, of Hancock, died Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at his home.
Born March 26, 1937, in Hancock, he was the son of the late George E. and Lillian Pittman Swisher.
He was a 1956 graduate of Hancock High School.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army.
He retired from Mack Truck after 31 years of employment.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret L. Hull Swisher, whom he married June 21, 1963 in Hagerstown, Md.; one daughter, Shea Lee Hart, of Hancock; one son, Corey L. Swisher, of Hancock; two brothers, Norman Swisher, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Ronald Swisher, of Hagerstown, Md.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Heavenly Blockinger.
A service will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at Victory Tabernacle, in Hedgesville, W.Va. Rev. Carl Clark will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md., on Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m., and at the Church on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, to help defray funeral expenses, memorial contributions may be made to the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md. 21750-0368.
