Edward L. Henson, age 66, of Hancock, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born April 17, 1946, in Pole Cat Hollow, Big Pool, Md., he was the son of the late Woodrow W. and Ruth Louisa Mills Henson.
He was retired as assistant manager for Richards-Wilbert Vault Service, in Hagerstown, Md.
He was a member of the Fulton County Sportsman League, the Hancock Volunteer Fire Company, the Hancock Lion’s Club, and the N.R.A.
He was a member of the Mt. Calvary Church of God.
He is survived by his wife, Betty L. Younker Henson, whom he married June 19, 1966, at Mt. Calvary Church of God, in Clear Spring, Md.; one daughter, Christina L. Flowers and her husband, Rick, and grandson, Jessey Flowers, of Clear Spring, Md.; five sisters, Janet Poffenberger, Donna McIntire, and Fannie Shinham, all of Hagerstown, Md., Virginia Yeakle, and Cindy Wilkinson, both of Clear Spring; and two brothers, Theodore Henson, Sr., of Big Pool, Md., and Woodrow “Bud” Henson, Jr., of Martinsburg, W.Va.
A service will be held on Saturday, April 6, at 11:00 a.m., at the Hancock Assembly of God Church, 431 North Pennsylvania Avenue, Hancock. Theodore Henson will officiate. Burial will follow in Parkhead Cemetery, Big Pool, Md.
The family will receive friends at the Church on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name will be accepted at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md. 21750-0368
