Elsie Mae Unger Powell, age 100, formerly of Hancock, died Monday, May 23, 2011 at Holly Place in Hagerstown, Md.

Born November 6, 1910 in Rock Ford, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Newton and Bertha Shade Unger, and the widow of Boyce Nichelson Powell, who died August 11, 1965.

She was a homemaker.

She attended Mt. Nebo Church in Great Cacapon, W.Va.

She is survived by two daughters, Marlene Vlasach of Pittsburg, Pa., and Joan McCusker of Clear Spring, Md.; one son, Boyce Jim Powell, of Clear Spring, Md.; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; four step-great- grandchildren; and twenty-nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Frances Eileen Barthalow and Sandra Kay Powell; and one son, Gary Powell.

A service will be held Thursday, May 26, at 11:00 a.m. at the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, Md. Rev. Michael Seger will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Nebo Cemetery, Great Cacapon, W.Va.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
