Hancock, Maryland
Evangeline E. LaFollette, age 91, of Hancock, and a resident of Broadmore Assisted Living, in Hagerstown, Md., died Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Broadmore.
Born November 13, 1921, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Mae Stoner Hovermale, and the widow of Hollis I. LaFollette, who died in 2008.
She had been employed as a seamstress with Jacob Brothers and E. J. Fennel, Inc.
She was a devoted, loving, and caring wife to her husband (Granddad), for over 71 years. When her husband left to serve in WWII, she raised their three children and took care of the home until blessed with his safe return.
She was the ultimate mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and was an exemplary model to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Meyers, of Hagerstown, Md., and Peggy True, of Hancock; one son, Bob LaFollette, of Hagerstown; three sisters, Ora Mae Thompson, of Hancock, Opal McCusker, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Carol Keefer, of Needmore, Pa.; one brother, Jim Hovermale, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; six grandsons, Steve Meyers, Brad LaFollette, Scott True, Chris Meyers, Tom LaFollette and Andrew Meyers; eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by six sisters, and five brothers.
A service will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at the Hancock United Methodist Church, 170 West Main Street. Rev. Duane Jensen will officiate. Burial will be in Sphores Cross Roads Cemetery, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
There will be a visitation at the Church on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Arrangements were handled by the Grove Funeral Home, in Hancock.
