Florence Bivens

Florence Regina Bivens, age 86, of Hancock, died on Monday, October 19, 2015, at the War Memorial Hospital, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

Born July 25, 1929, in Frostburg, Md., she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Vera (Clark) Pryor; and the widow of Robert William Bivens, who died May 13, 2013.

She enjoyed her grandchildren; writing poetry; and crocheting.

She was a member of St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church, in Hancock.

She retired, as a seamstress, from Londontown Mfg., in Hancock.

She is survived by one daughter, Sandy J. Moats-Thigpen; and two sons, Robert J. Bivens, of Reisterstown, Md., and Michael L. Bivens, of Hancock; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; one sister, Joan Grooms, of  Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one brother, Clarence Pryor, of Hancock; and a half-sister, Connie Hovermale of Hancock.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Gladys Gruszczynski, and Helen Shape-Cavada; and one brother, Elwood Pryor.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 22, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church, Church and High Streets, Hancock. Rev. F. Allan Weatherholt, Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow in the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, in Hagerstown, Md.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, from 2 until 4 p.m., and 6 until 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations, in her name, may be made the the War Memorial Hospital Extended Care Unit, 1 Health Way, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. 25411
