Florence Wilkerson

Florence Pearl  Wilkerson, age 91, of Hancock, died Sunday, September 16, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center, in Hagerstown, Md.

Born April 23, 1921, in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late James Samuel and Margaret Brown Oliver Resley, and the widow of Ray M. Keefer, Sr.

She was a 1939 graduate of Hancock High School, and attended W.Va. Beauty School, in Martinsburg, W.Va.  She was a self-employed beautician, operating K & W Beauty Salon, in Hancock.

She was a lifetime member-at-large of the Hancock Lioness Club; a member of the Hancock American Legion Ladies Auxiliary; a member of the AARP; and also the Hancock Historical Society.

She was the oldest member of the Hancock United Methodist Church, where she had attended for 71 years.

She is survived by one sister, Adele Douglas, of Hancock; and grandchildren, Lantz Ray Keefer, of Emmitsburg, Md., Erik Lynn Keefer and Jewel Leigh Keefer, both of Hagerstown, Md.

She was preceded in death by her son, Ray M. Keefer, Jr.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 20, at 11:00 a.m., at the Hancock United Methodist Church. Rev. Michael Bynum will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing.
