Frank B Thomas IV, of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2021.
He was born on August 24, 1959, to Dr. Frank B Thomas III and Marion Reich Thomas of Hancock, Maryland. Frank was the second of nine children.
Frank attended Saint Mary Catholic School and graduated from Saint Maria Goretti in 1977.
Frank was a trim carpenter and was multi-gifted in construction. He loved his wife, daughters, family, friends, and his church with all of his heart and soul. He touched so many lives by living his life as Christ asks of us. He was selfless and always helping to care for others. Frank loved corny jokes. He was quick witted. He was an avid reader and loved learning. He loved camping and music festivals. He adored his grandchildren. He had a joyful personality and always looked for the positive in every situation.
Frank is survived by his wife Mary Vivian Thomas; his mother Marion Reich Thomas; his three daughters: Zita Thomas of Hancock, MD; Rebecca Shoemaker and husband Chris of Hancock, MD; Meladie Gadoury and husband Nick of San Antonio, TX; Step-daughter Emily Hill and husband Nathan of Frederick, MD; nine grandchildren: Sawyer Shoemaker, Marshall Shoemaker, Hudson Shoemaker, Owen Gadoury, Charlotte Gadoury, Eloise Gadoury, Webster Gadoury, Hazel Gadoury and Theo Gadoury; two step-grandchildren: Jamie Hill and Sammy Hill: his siblings; Marion Lane of Waynesville, NC; Michael Thomas and his wife Angie of Little Orleans, MD; Theresa Pittman and Rosemarie Horz of Hancock, MD; Charles Thomas and his wife Elizabeth of Annapolis, MD; Paul Thomas and his wife Kathy of Williamsport, MD; Elizabeth Woltemath and her husband Brian of Virginia Beach, VA.; and a sister-in-law, Tania Thomas of Williamsport, PA.
Frank is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and his wife’s family. Frank leaves behind many friends.
Frank was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Frank B Thomas III; his brother, Dr. Ralph Thomas; and his brothers-in-law, Dr. Christopher Lane and Max Horz, Jr.
A memorial mass will be held at Saint Peter Catholic Church, 16 East High St, Hancock, Md., on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. Celebrant will be Father Joseph Langan; Deacon Jim Mason, assisting. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.
