Fred A. Moats, age 92, of Hancock, Md., passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at the Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, in Johnstown, Pa.
Born January 8, 1929, in Hancock, he was the son of the late Walter K. and Nona (Younker) Moats; and widower of Maxine Ruby (Deneen) Moats, whom he married on August 2, 1950, and who passed away on April 21, 2014.
He was a member of the Stone Bridge Church of the Brethren, in Hancock.
He had been employed as a truck driver for Dave’s Wholesale Produce, in Hagerstown, Md.
Fred is survived by three daughters, Anita J. Morris, of Hancock, Roberta A. Martin, of Chambersburg, Pa., and Linda F. Martin, of Greencastle, Pa.; one son, Keith E. Moats, of Clear Spring, Md.; five sisters, Charlotte Younker, of Mercersburg, Pa., Eva Wileman, of Chambersburg, Pa., Molly Shaw, of Warfordsburg, Pa., LaFay Mueller, of Boonsboro, Md., and Darlene Yonker, of Nichols, S.Car.; two brothers, Wilton Moats, of Mont Alto, Pa., and Ennis Moats, of Chambersburg, Pa.; ten grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Michael Morris, Joel Martin, and Kathleen Hendershott.
The family will receive friends at the Stone Bridge Church of the Brethren, 14904 Orchard Ridge Road, Hancock, Md., on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, followed by services at 12:00 noon, with Rev. Harry Strite officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in his name may be made to the Stone Bridge Church of the Brethren, c/o Cynthia Rowe, 14722 Heavenly Acres Road, Hancock, Md. 21750
