Gary Longerbeam

Gary Wayne Longerbeam, age 59, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at his home.

Born April 21, 1958, in Virginia, he was the son of the late Robert and Arlena (Castle) Longerbeam.

Gary was an avid fisherman; and was everyone’s house sitter for their dogs.

He is survived by his children, Stephanie Ann Caffarelli and her husband, Jim, of Hancock, Md., Larry Younker, Jr. and his wife, Angel, of Thornton, W.Va., and Troy Lynn Younker, of Thornton; siblings, Julie Agee, of Roanoke, Va., Robert Longerbeam, Jr. and his wife, Sharon, of Point of Rocks, Md., Anna “Susie” Castle and her husband, Tom, of Sharpsburg, Md., Wyatt Longerbeam, of Hagerstown, Md., and Larry Longerbeam and his wife, Sharon, of Hagerstown; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Gary had a special bond with his grandson, Alan Michael Saunders and his wife, Katrina.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Debra Boden Longerbeam , on September 16, 2000; and one brother, Donald Longerbeam.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, Md. with Rev. Barbara Suffecool officiating. Burial will be private, at the convenience of the family.
