George Richard Fry, age 67, of Hancock, died Sunday, July 17, 2011 at the Western Maryland Health System, Cumberland, Md.
Born November 8, 1943, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late James J. and Clara Hanna Fry, and husband of Barbara L. Donahoe Fry, of Hancock, whom he married November 6, 1971.
He was a machine operator for Cosmo Films, in Hagerstown, Md., and had been employed with Pittman's Market in Hancock, Md.
He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Hancock, and was a 1961 graduate of Flintstone High School.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Viet Nam.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Monica L. Fry and Melissa L. Shives, both of Hancock, and Stephanie Knab and husband, Jeff, of Columbia, Md. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Erin and Alisa Shives, Matthew, Erica, Briana, and OIivia Knab.
He was preceded in death by one brother, James Fry, Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, July 20, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Peter Catholic Church, Hancock, Md. Rev. John Lombardi will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, Md., Tuesday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., where a Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m.
