George Samuel (Sam) Truax, age 83, of Warfordsburg, died on Friday, March 14, 2014 at ManorCare in Chambersburg, Pa.
Born October 8, 1930, near Needmore, in Fulton County, Pa., he was the son of the late Frank W. and Mary P. Catlett Truax.
He was retired from the Southern Fulton School District as a custodian.
He is survived by his wife, Alice P. Everts Truax, whom he married November 10, 1954; three daughters, Dorothy A. Bowser, of Altoona, Pa., Alice Marie Lynch, of Needmore, Pa., and Janet L. Breeden, of Warfordsburg; one son, Michael F. Truax, of Warfordsburg; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by one son, Samuel William Truax; one sister, Vera M. Weller; and two brothers, Harold H. Truax and Ralph C. Truax.
A service will be held on Tuesday March 18, 2014, at 1:00 p.m., at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md. Rev. Denver A. Plessinger will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Christian Cemetery, 3013 Pleasant Grove Road, Warfordsburg, Pa.
The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Monday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. For the convenience of family and friends the Funeral Home will be open from 2 to 8 p.m.
