Georgia Deshong

Georgia M. DeShong, age 80, died Thursday, October 14, 2010, at Charlotte's Home in Boonsboro, Md.

Born February 28, 1930, in Lancaster, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Leslie Randolph and Beatrice G. Truax Spade and the widow of Bud Elmer DeShong, who died November 14, 1990.

She was formerly employed by Pepperidge Farms in Downington, Pa.

She was a member of The Miracle Center and attended Victory Tabernacle in Hedgesville, W.Va.

She enjoyed traveling, and her home was always open to friends and family in need.

She is survived by two sons; Ronald E. DeShong, and Keith A. DeShong, both of Hedgesville, W.Va.; three sisters, Viola Weigle of Hedgesville, W.Va., Elda Mertz of Falling Waters, W.Va., Phyllis Thompson of Hancock Md., and three brothers; Bernard L. Spade, of Hancock, Md., Arlie G. Spade of Elkton, Md., Jearld L. Spade, of New Castle, De.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter; Connie DeShong Rubeck, and two sisters; Estalene Ritz and Nancy Shives; four brothers, Kenneth Spade, Walter Spade, James T. Spade and Delmar Spade.

A service will be held Monday, October 18, at 11:00 a.m. at the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, Md. Rev. Steve Dawson will officiate. Burial will be in the Buck Valley Methodist Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Sunday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
