Gladys Sigel

Warfordsburg, Pennsylvania

Gladys Virginia Sigel, age 92, of Warfordsburg, died Saturday, January 26, 2013 at her home.

Born December 24, 1920, in Piney Plains, Md., she was the daughter of the late William Henry Harrison and Viola Evelyn Barnes Price, and the widow of Reed Allen Sigel, who died in 1980.

She was a homemaker, a member of the Buck Valley Zion Lutheran Church, and a member of the Bedford Saddle Club.

She is survived by two daughters, Norma Jean Strait, and Virginia Mae Sigel Shank, both of Warfordsburg; one foster son, Roger Lee Mellott, of Big Pool, Md.; two sisters, June Scriever, of Warfordsburg, and Yvonne McLean, of Warfordsburg; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and  numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Eileen and Helen; and one brother, Robert.

A service will be held on Thursday, January 31, at 11:00 a.m., at the Grove Funeral Home, in Hancock, Md. Rev. F. Allan Weatherholt will officiate. Burial will be in the Buck Valley Zion Lutheran Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
