Gretchen True

Gretchen Simone True, 85, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at her home in Hancock, MD.

Born April 10, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Oscar B. and Ruth VanGosen Truax, and the wife of John W. True whom she married on June 7, 1956.

She was a teacher’s aid for Washington County Public Schools and retired after 35 years of service.

She was a member of Orchard Ridge Church of God and Hancock Elementary PTA.

She enjoyed saving penny coins, baking, and painting.

In addition to her husband, John, she is survived by two sons, Philip True, Hancock, MD. and Jay True, Greencastle, PA; one daughter, Teresa Hess, Hancock, MD.; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

There will be no viewing or service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
