Hazel Souders

Hazel Marie Creek Souders, age 86, of Hancock, died Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at her home.

Born in August 19, 1927, Little Orleans, Md., she was the daughter of the late Raymond W. and Julia Boden Creek, and the widow of Carl Pappy Souders, Sr., who died April 22, 2001 and whom she married August 19, 1944 at St. Peter Catholic Church.

She and her late husband owned and operated Kiddie Kare Day Center in Hancock for 26 years.

She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, St. Peter Ladies Group, and Christmas for Others.

Her life was devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Danny Souders and wife, Sandy, of Hancock, and Raymond Souders, of Little Orleans, Md.; one sister, Edna Oliver, of Canton, Oh.; two brothers, Millard Creek, of Hancock, and Carl Creek of Little Orleans; grandchildren, Michelle Shank and husband, Brian, Danny Souders, Jr. and wife, Mendy, Tye Souders, Deena Baker and husband, Mark, Chris Souders and wife, Michele, Laura Hose and husband, Ron, and Teri Robertson; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two sons, Carl Souders, Jr., and Terry R. Souders; a daughter-in-law, Helen Souders; one sister, Violet Cochran; and two brothers, Junie Creek, and Virgil Creek.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Peter Catholic Church, 16 East High Street, Hancock. Rev. John Lombardi will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at St. Peter Catholic Church Hall, 16 East High Street, Hancock, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.
