Herbert Lee Hensley, age 85, of Warfordsburg, died on Thursday, February 13, 2014, at his home.
Born August 13, 1928, in Hancock, he was the son of the late Carl E. and Lucy Belle Norris Hensley.
He was a self-employed painting contractor.
He was a member of St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church, in Hancock, Md., and he was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener.
He is survived by one son, Gary Hensley, of Hancock, Md.; two daughters, Donna Weller, of Warfordsburg, and Brenda Morris, of Hagerstown, Md.; a daughter-in-law, Darlene Hensley, of Warfordsburg, Pa.; one brother, Carl Hensley, of Needmore, Pa.; five sisters, Clara Clark, of Needmore, Pa., Gladys Morris, of Hagerstown, Md., Lucy DeHaven, of Baltimore, Md., Margaret Kokoszka, of McConnellsburg, Pa., and Dolly Hurst, of Florida; nine grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his caregiver, Nancy Bishop.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Roger Hensley; two brothers, Isaac and Robert Hensley; one sister Donna DeHaven; and the mother of his children, Mary Shoemaker Hensley.
The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md., on Saturday, February 15, from 4 to 7pm.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 417 Phoenix Drive, Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.
