Elderess Iris Jane (King) Fox, age 85, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., departed this life on January 23, 2018, at the Berkeley Springs Center, surrounded by her family.
Born in Cumberland, Md., on Friday, December 23, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Honorary Senior Deacon Herman King and Elderess Emma (Faith) King; and she was married to the late Marvin “Buddy” Fox for forty-six years.
She was a 1950 graduate of Hancock High School.
She spent much of her adult life as a homemaker, and was an excellent seamstress, baker, and cook, who loved to have the entire family in to her home after church, for Sunday dinner.
Elderess Iris was a member, and an ordained minister, of the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob. She was a dedicated member of the Paw Paw, W.Va. congregation, and previously of the Hancock congregation. She was a graduate of the 1989 Bible School class, and was active for many years in the Sons and Daughters of God auxiliary; the Senior Saints organization; and the Central Banking System. She was affectionately known to Father J. Daniel Israel as "Trooper."
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Advanced Senior Mother Betty Lee (Reeder) Hughes, and Advanced Senior Mother Mary Louise Trail; and one granddaughter, Sister Melissa Mundey.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Mother Melissa Mundey (Presiding Elder David), Elder Daniel Fox (Elderess Cindy), Elderess Marcia Coffman (Brother James), and David Fox (Daniel Wallace); a brother-in-law, Elder Neal Hughes; sisters-in-law, Mary Anne McCarty, Cheryl Price, Lorraine Henderson, Nancy Fox, and Violet Fox; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and church family.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob, 5516 Berm Road, Hancock, Md. Advanced Presiding Elder Mark S. Faith will be officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by the Grove Funeral Home, in Hancock.
