James Edward Shaw, age 86, of Needmore, Pa., passed away at his home on Saturday, February 29, 2020.
Born in Hancock, Md., March 11, 1933, he was the son of the late William E. and Ethel Regina Roberta (Fisher) Shaw; and the husband of Anna Jane (Brakeall) Shaw, whom he married on June 21, 1957 at St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church, in Hancock.
Jim was a 1950 graduate of Warfordsburg High School, in Warfordsburg, Pa.
He was a member of the St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church, in Hancock.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and retired from Rayloc, in Hancock.
He was a member of the James W. Bowers Masonic Lodge #173, in Hancock, the Hagerstown Forest #95 Tall Cedars of Lebanon, the A.A.S.R. Northern Masonic Jurisdiction USA, in Harrisburg, Pa., and the 11th Airborne Division Association.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Sharon Lynne Elbin and her husband, Glenn, of Greencastle, Pa.; two sons, Michael Alan Shaw and his wife, Via, and Daniel Garth Shaw, both of Needmore, Pa.; one sister, Nanette Malarkey, of Downey, Calif.; five grandchildren, David Dere, III, Dianna Courtney, Jeneice Shaw-Wuertenberg, Andrew Shaw and Jennifer Elbin; five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bernard “Bud” Shaw.
Funeral services will be held at the St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church, in Hancock, on Wednesday, March 4, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. Rev. F. Allan Weatherholt, Jr. and Rev. Steven McCarty will be officiating. Burial, with military honors by the Tri-State Honor Guard, will be in the Tonoloway Baptist Cemetery, in Needmore.
The family will receive friends at the Church on Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. until time for the services.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church, 2 East High St., Hancock, MD 21750, or to SpiriTrust Lutheran Hospice, 2700 Lutheran Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
