Janet Elaine Mellott, age 61, of Hancock, died on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at her home.

Born September 8, 1952, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Arnold F. and Mary Jane Trail Munson.

She was a 1970 graduate of Hancock High School.

She was an employee of Merkle, Inc., and had previously been employed by the Park-N-Dine and London Fog, both in Hancock.

She was a member of Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Webster B. Harrison Post 26 American Legion Auxiliary, and the Red Hat Society.    Janet was also a volunteer at the Veteran Administration Medical Center, Martinsburg, West Virginia.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Lynn Mellott, of Waynesboro, Pa., and Timothy Allen Mellott, of Evans, Ga.; one daughter, Marissa Leah Mellott, of Hancock; five sisters, Andrea Stotler, of Hancock, Carolyn Thomas, and Sandra Munson, both of McConnellsburg, Pa., Alice Boyer, of Clear Spring, Md., and Linda Munson, of Hagerstown; five brothers, Edward Munson, and Gary Munson, both of Hancock, Ronald Munson, and Glen Munson, both of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Joseph Munson, of Fort Walton Beach, Fl.; and five grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Elizabeth Munson.

A service will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church, 14253 Exline Road, Hancock. Rev. Philip Unger will officiate. Burial will be in the Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 to 4 and  6 to 8 p.m. at the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, and at the Church on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md. 21750
