Janet Louise Shives, 93, of Mercersburg, Pa, passed away at Meritus Medical Center on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
She was born in Greencastle, Pa and went to Greencastle Area Schools.
Janet was a beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was married to her husband, Gene, for fifty-six years until he went to be with the Lord in October 2006.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She was a Sunday school teacher, Altar Guild and member of LWML.
Janet is survived by her five children, Ronald, Judith (Tom), David (Sharon), Lois (Jack), and Cindy. She was a Mema to eight grandchildren and Great-Mema to nine great-grandchildren and one great-granddaughter on the way.
She is also survived by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Janet is preceded in death by sisters Doris, Kate, Dorothy, and daughter-in-law RuthAnn, brother-in-law Dale, and nephews Doug and Wally.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Grove-Rogowski Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md 21750. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 1:00pm at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 3738 Resley Road, Hancock, Md 21750, with one hour visitation prior to the service. Pastor Kenneth Stottlemyer will officiate. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
