Janice Louise (Mitchell) Stotler, age 82, of Hancock, Md., passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at her home.

Born November 16, 1936, in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late Jacob L. and Esther M. (Landers) Mitchell, and the widow of Merval E. Stotler, Sr.

She was a graduate of the Hancock High School with the class of 1954.

She was a member of the Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church, in Hancock.

Janice was an amazing lady who could do anything. If you told her she couldn’t do it, she would go and prove you wrong. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and family, and was always there to help anyone who needed her.

She is survived by three daughters, Linda M. Appel, of Hancock, Shirley E. Trail and her husband, Merle, Jr., of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Barbara L. Hershberger and her husband, Scott, of Hancock; two sons, Merval E. Stotler, Jr., and Benjamin L. Stotler and his wife, Crystal, all of Hancock; eight grandchildren, Coby, Eric, Mikey, Ashley, Samantha, Tiffiny, Janelle, and Isabelle; twenty-two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Gladys Mitchell, Nadine Bageant, Jeanie Yost and Molly Young; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Janice was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilbur “Bus” Mitchell, James Mitchell, Sr. and Robert Mitchell, Sr.; and a sister, Rosalie Mitchell.

A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced by the family.
