Jean Catherine Hobday, 82, entered into eternal rest around 7:15 a.m., while under the care of Hospice, Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at her home, after a debilitating illness of 10 years.

Jean was born December 2, 1928, in Berkeley County, Martinsburg, W.Va. She was the daughter of the late Cordie Elizabeth Newbraugh Michael and Robert Milford Michael.

She was retired, after 21 years of service, from Prowler-Fleetwood Industries, formerly in  Hancock, as a Sub-Assembly Dept. lead person.

She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Unit #26.

She formerly was employed with A.C. Unger Tomato Factory; Berkeley Springs Dairy and Creamery Office; and Allemong's Restaurant, as a waitress and cook.

She is survived by her companion of 40 years, George M. Everett, Sr., Hancock,, Md.; son, Ralph Junior Hobday and wife, Lois E., of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; daughter, Diane E. Hobday Miller and husband, Gene W., of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; sisters, Rachel Elizabeth Jacobs of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Hilda Marie Hobday of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Donnie L. Hobday, Jr., Nicole Jeanne Hobday of Augusta, W.Va., Jennifer Lynn Hobday of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Tia Leane Miller of Boston, Ma.; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Jarson; brothers, Milford, Marvin, Robert, Vernon, Rumsey, Joseph, Foster and Jr. Berkeley Michael.

A service will be held Thursday, May 12, at 1:00 p.m., at the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, Md. Rev. Kathy Spitzer will officiate. Burial will be in Parkhead Cemetery, Big Pool, Md.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
