John William Cubbage, age 85, of Hancock, died on Friday, September 5, 2014 at his home.

Born June 20, 1929, at Pearre, Md., he was the son of the late George William and Audrey Mildred Harris Cubbage, and the husband of the late Patricia Ann Clay Cubbage, who died August 3, 1999.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army.

He was a retired inspector from Mack Truck, in Hagerstown, Md.

He was of the Catholic faith.

He was a life member of the Webster B. Harrison Post #26 American Legion, and the VFW Post, both in Hancock; and a member of the Tri-State Honor Guard. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.

He is survived by three daughters, Mary E. Clow, and Krista M. Mullinex, both of Hancock, and Dolores A. Fox, of Needmore, Pa; two sons, Robert W. Cubbage, and Randy L. Cubbage, both of Hancock; a sister-in-law, Shirley Cubbage, of Hancock; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, David W. Cubbage; three sisters; and one brother.

A service will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock. Rev. Jeff Hawbaker will officiate. Burial, with a military service by the Tri-State Honor Guard, will be in the Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Cemetery, Exline Road, Hancock.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Monday, from 2 to 8 p.m.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tri-State Honor Guard, c/o James W. Proffitt, 672 Creek Road, Berkeley Springs, WV 25411.
