Joseph M. Divelbliss, Jr., age 89, of Hancock, Md., passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018 at the Coffman Nursing Home, in Hagerstown, Md.
Born January 31, 1929, in Warfordsburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Joseph M., Sr. and Carrie A. (Diehl) Divelbliss.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and served his country during the Korean War.
He was a member of the VFW Post, in Hancock; and a past Commander of the American Legion, Webster B. Harrison Post 26, in Hancock.
He is survived by a sister, Mary Smith, of Bedford, Pa.; a brother, Herbert Divelbliss, of Crystal Spring, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Hazel McCusker, Shirley Divelbliss, Ruth Stotler, Ethel Dively, and Edna Hull; and his brothers, Charles, Thurman, Curtis, and Homer Divelbliss, and Harold Divel, Sr., and also two infant brothers.
Funeral services, with military honors conducted by the Ft. Cumberland American Legion Post 13, will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at the Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery, in Flintstone, Md.
The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, on Sunday, October 21, 2018, from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.
