Joseph Carl Haynes, age 72, of Hancock, died on Thursday, November 10, 2016 near his home.

Born Sunday, March 19, 1944, in Salt Lake City, Ut., he was the son of the late John Leslie and Dorothy Grace (Swindler) Haynes; and the husband of Bonnie A. (Hoopengardner) Haynes, whom he married on December 22, 1968, at the Hancock United Methodist Church.

He was retired from Hoffman Automotive, in Hagerstown, Md., where he was the service manager.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Korea.

He attended San Jacinto High School, in Texas.

He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by one daughter, Holli Haynes, of Hancock; two sisters, Jonell Hull, of Hagerstown, Md., and Dorothy Ellen Phillips, of San Antonio, Tx.; two grandchildren, Maizi Haynes and Daniel Lee Keefer, both of Hancock; and his canine best friends, Roxi, Gunner and Piper.

The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, in Hancock, on Wednesday, November 16, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., with a memorial service to be held at 7:00 p.m. Rev. Barbara Suffecool will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Orleans Volunteer Fire Company, 12210 Orleans Road, Little Orleans, Md. 21766
