Kathy Carey

Kathy Suzanne Carey, 68, Hancock, MD, passed away May 24, 2022, at her home.

Born August 11, 1953, in Frederick, MD., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Lily (Mae) Sheppard.

She was a former supervisor for AVEMCO and a clerk for Frederick County Social Services.

She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed bowling and collecting Longaberger baskets.

She was a former President of the MVAA, Frederick Youth Football.

She is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Hamrick; a son, Scott Murray; two brothers, Ronald Sheppard, and Charles Sheppard; two sisters, Laurie Sheppard, and Shawn Higgins; seven grandchildren, Tyler Hamrick, Christina Hamrick, Skye Murray, Brianna Murray, Beau Murray, Addisyn Murray, and Nash Murray; and three great-grandchildren, Owen Hamrick, Naomi Shaw, and Kayden Murray.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022, at 11:00 AM, at Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main St, Hancock, MD.  Reverend Tim May will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Kathy’s name can be made to Children’s Hospital, 111 Michigan Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20010.
