Kermit H. Mellott, age 89, of Heavenly Acres Ridge Road, died Monday, October 4, 2010 at Shippensburg Health Care Center, Shippensburg, Pa.

Born April 23, 1921, in Needmore, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles Howard and Jesse Cornelia Golden Mellott.

He was a self-employed farmer.

He was a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau; past Township Supervisor; and past member of the Southern Fulton County School Board.

He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren, Needmore, Pa.

He is survived by his wife, Elda L. Coffman Mellott, whom he married August 5, 1944 at St. Thomas' Episcopal Church, Hancock, Md.; one daughter, Carolyn White, of Mercersburg, Pa.; two sons, D. Gene Mellott, of Big Cove Tannery, Pa. and M. Lynn Mellott of Mercersburg, Pa.; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great- granddaughter. He was preceded in death by one sister, Edna Truax; one brother, Glen C. Mellott; and one granddaughter, Teresa Kay Mellott.

A service will be held Thursday, October 7, at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren, 2507 Pleasant Ridge Road, Needmore, Pa. Rev. Roger Truax will officiate. Burial will be in the Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, Md., Wednesday 7-9 p.m. and at the Church on Thursday 10-11 a.m. For the convenience of family and friends the Funeral Home will be open 2-9 p.m. on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren, 2507 Pleasant Ridge Road, Needmore, Pa. 17238.
