Larry Charles Socks, age 64, of Hancock, Md., passed away on Monday, January 6, 2020, at the Fahrney Keedy Memorial Home, in Boonsboro, Md.
Born June 24, 1955, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of Charles E. Socks and the late Elizabeth A. (Shoemaker) Socks; and the husband of the late Cindy Lee (Williams) Socks, who died August 28, 2016.
He retired from the International Union of Operating and Engineering Local 37, in Hancock, Md., after thirty-three years of employment.
He enjoyed going hunting and fishing.
In addition to his father, he is survived by three sisters, Faye Conley and her husband, Steven, of Hancock, Karen Conley and her husband, Charles, of Hancock, and Nina Gaither, of Hancock; a step-daughter, Lucinda Williams; grandson, Jacob Williams; granddaughter, Katrina Knode; nieces and nephews, Chuck Conley, Jamie Schetrompf, David Gaither, Jessica Apple and William Scott.
The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, on Thursday, January 9, 2020, from 5 until 7:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., with Pastor Joshua E. Gillen officiating. For the convenience of family and friends, the funeral home will open at noon. Interment will be private, at the family’s convenience.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at the Fresenius Kidney Care and Dialyses Center, in Hagerstown, Md.; to his caretaker, Donna McCarty; and to Meals on Wheels.
