Lee Francis Lashley, age 84, of Warfordsburg, Pa., passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at his home.
Born May 17, 1936, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of the late Francis Lee “Fritz” Lashley and Maxine Elliott (Gienger) Lashley.
He is survived by his wife, Alda Mae Louise (Crawford) Lashley, whom he married on July 22, 1961; one daughter, Leda Louise (Lashley) Fischer; one son, Thomas Lee Lashley and his wife, Lori (Haugh) Lashley; two grandsons, Traber Fischer, and Dalton Fischer and his wife, Megan (Kerns) Fischer; two granddaughters, Ashley Coover, and Brooke Cressler and her husband, Ray Cressler; one great-grandson, Preston Fischer; and one great-granddaughter, Mabel Cressler.
Lee was a 1954 graduate of Warfordsburg High School. He was in the Air Force ROTC while attending Penn State University. He worked summers for the Fulton County Soil Conservation, under Ralph Layton. He graduated from Penn State University with a BS in Science and Agriculture in 1958. He left for basic training at Fort Knox, Ky. in 1959. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years and was honorably discharged. He worked as a Caseworker for the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare from 1959 through 1978 and served as the Executive Director for the Fulton County Welfare Office from 1978 through 1994, when he retired after 35 years. Lee was a lifetime farmer, and an avid hunter, and trapper.
He was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge 601, and The Gideons International. He was also a member of the Lions Club for many years. He was a member of the Buck Valley Christian Church, a past Deacon, and served on the parish council. He was President of the Buck Valley Memorial Cemetery Association (M.E. Church).
The family will receive friends at the Buck Valley Christian Church, 2281 Harmonia Road, Warfordsburg, Pa., on Saturday, February 13, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., and funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Buck Valley Memorial Cemetery. Masks and social distancing are required.
