Leroy Isaac Barnhart, age 75, of Hancock, Md., passed away on Monday, September 24, 2018 at the Meritus Medical Center, in Hagerstown, Md.
Born October 29, 1942, in Hancock, he was the son of the late Harry Barnhart, Jr. and Esther (Younker) Barnhart; and the widower of Ida Louise (Weller) Barnhart, who passed away on March 15, 2018.
He was a graduate of Hancock High School with the class of 1960.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force; and a member of the Webster B. Harrison Post 26 American Legion in Hancock.
He was retired from his job as a press operator for the Herald Mail newspaper, in Hagerstown, Md.
He was a member of the Orchard Ridge First Church of God, in Hancock.
Leroy is survived by a son, Christopher A. Barnhart and his wife, Jantia, of Thurmont, Md.; a daughter, Jennifer L. Ruppenthal and her husband, Tim, of Hagerstown, Md.; three grandchildren, Chayney Barnhart, Bryce Ruppenthal and Courtney Ruppenthal; and one sister, Janice A. Fink.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward E. Barnhart, Otto P. Barnhart, and Bernard M. Barnhart.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 29, 2018, at the Orchard Ridge First Church of God, 14128 Orchard Ridge Road, Hancock. Rev. Jeffrey Hawbaker will officiate. Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery, with military honors conducted by the Tri-State Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 28, 2018, from 6 until 8:00 p.m., at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, and at the church one hour prior to the services on Saturday.
Memorial donations in his name may be made to the Orchard Ridge First Church of God at the above address.
