Hancock, Maryland
Leroy E. Moats, age 86, of Hancock, Md., died Sunday, March 25, 2012, at his home.
Born December 20, 1925, in Franklin County, Pa., he was the son of the late Roy C. and Bridgett E. (Weller) Moats, and the husband of Helen Margaret (Weller) Moats.
He served in the U.S. Army, in the Korean War, and was a member of the Webster B. Harrison Post 26 American Legion, and the V.F.W. Post 10502, both in Hancock.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Sheila D. Richardson, and her husband, Michael, of Hancock; two sons, Craig L. Moats and Eddie L. Moats and his wife, Sylvia, all of Hancock; five sisters, Veriee Weller, Etta Mae Younker, Rosalie Ward, all of Hancock, Mary Stuckey, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Betty Hixon, of Warfordsburg, Pa.; two brothers, Herman and Ray Moats, both of Hancock; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a special sister-in-law, Patsy Moats.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Pittman, and Shelva Jean Crouse; and two brothers, Paul J. Moats, Sr., and Homer Moats; also one great-grandson, Hunter VanMeter.
By his wishes, services and interment will be private.
